What To Expect
When do we meet, and where?
Service will begin at 10:00 am each Sunday morning, We are meeting in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the campus of Wesleyan Christian Academy at 1915 N. Centennial Street in High Point. The best way to enter for parking is to access Entrance D on N. Centennial Street. This entrance drive will take you between the Fine Arts facility and the Security Office for High Point University. You will then proceed to the large parking area directly adjacent to the auditorium.
What type of music will we hear?
Pastor Paul Coates leads us in congregational worship with songs that will be familiar, and/or easy to learn quickly. We believe, as we are admonished in the Psalms, it is vitally important for each of us to sing our praise to God. This may mean hymns of the church which have been in existence for hundreds of years, or newer songs which are easier to learn. Come ready to participate, and "make a joyful noise to the Lord."
What kind of preaching/teaching can we expect?
We primarily use expository teaching, focusing on exploring the truth of God's Word to us. We encourage you to bring your Bibles, or Bible apps, with you to church. Although a screen will be used to reinforce songs and Scripture, we really want our people to fall in love with the Word of God!
Will we have a nursery or other children's ministries?
At the current time there are no nursery or children's ministry programs. We are renting only the auditorium and foyer at the Fine Arts Center. As the church develops we will monitor the needs for such programs. In the meantime, please bring your children or grandchildren to worship with you. If they get a little rambunctious or loud, the foyer will be available to give them a little break.
Will there be any ways to volunteer?
Yes! These opportunities will increase as our church develops, however, there will be ways to serve right off the bat. Encounter Church will have logistics involving setup, tear-down, security, and other related matters. This will not involve a highly intensive commitment since the facility will largely be set-up for us already. There will be minor details each week, however. If you would like to help on this team in a rotating fashion, please let Encounter Church know.
We will also be developing a rotating team of individuals to count offerings each week and provide the accountability of properly handling our giving. Please sign up if you would like to take part in this low-impact, but highly important task. There will be more to come, for sure!
